The SDDOT is planning the replacement of SD44 structure over the Missouri River as well as highway re-alignment and approach grading.
Infrastructure Design Group, Inc. was contracted to perform a 4R survey, which will provide a complete topographic survey for use in completing the design of the reconstruction of the roadway and structure. The topographic survey was completed using traditional ground survey methods. The surveyors used a combination of GPS and robotic total stations to complete the data collection.
Also included within this project was the Land Ties Survey. The project location provided some unique challenges regarding boundary evidence and computations. Due to the poor soil conditions and sloping terrain there were many areas of surface movement downward in sloped areas. This movement affected the location of the original monumentation which was taken into consideration during land corner computations and perpetuation.
